If you already have knowledge when it comes to buying a motherboard and just want to get a motherboard list where you can choose from, just leave this section. But if you are a beginner, I suggest reading this quick motherboard buying guide.
The first thing you should consider when buying a motherboard is your budget. How much money are you willing to spend on your motherboard? You don’t necessarily need to spend a lot of money to get a good quality motherboard. But if you have the budget, there are some high-end motherboards that offer great features and performance. We’ve included both budget and high-end options in this list, so there should be something here for everyone.
Besides your budget, you should also consider what other components you need to pair with your motherboard. If you are building a high-end gaming PC, then you will need to make sure that your other components are also top of the line. But if you are just looking for a good quality motherboard that can handle general computing tasks, then you don’t necessarily need to spend as much on other components.
The second thing you should consider is what other components will you be using with your motherboard, not just the CPU. Make sure that the motherboard you choose can accommodate all the other components you need.
Lastly, you should consider the extra features that the motherboard offers. Some motherboards come with built-in WiFi, while others have LED lighting. These are just some of the extra features that you may or may not need. It all depends on your preference.

In order to know whether DDR5 memory is worth it when paired with an Intel Core i7-12700K, we’ve been testing several high-speed sticks from various vendors. Our findings showed that there is very little extra performance when using DDR5 memory, as opposed to DDR4 when paired with the Alder Lake CPUs. In most cases, the difference was negligible.
What this tells us is that most potential 12th Gen PC users should simply stick with DDR4 rather than looking into buying expensive DDR5 kits that offer little in terms of performance increases when paired with the Alder Lake CPUs. However, it also means that if someone already has DDR5 memory, then they might as well go ahead and use the RAM with their Core i7-12700K, as it would be good to future-proof your build.
The Core i7-12700K is only compatible with LGA 1700 socket and 600 series chipsets. All motherboards included in this guide comes with the right socket and chipset to support the Core i7-12700K out-of-the-box. So, regardless of which motherboard you choose on this list, you can be assured that there will be no compatibility issue.
