AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT PC Build: High-End Desktop

By: Henz Llarves | Date Posted: June 30, 2022

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT PC Build: High-End Desktop

The Radeon RX 6900 XT is AMD’s current and greatest graphics card, with a massive core count. It’s a beast of a machine with extreme performance that will satisfy any gamer looking for power. The Radeon RX 6900 XT is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 counterpart, which means it’s a major competitor to the RTX 3090.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT is powered by the RDNA 2 Navi 21 XTX GPU. It has 80 compute units (CUs) i.e. a total of 5,120 shading units – not to mention the 16GB of GDDR6 memory which offers 512 GB/s bandwidth. This graphics card comes with a base clock speed of 1,825 MHz, which can be boosted up to 2,250 MHz. However, the boost clock will depend on the workload and how much thermal headroom your PC can offer.

New features like real-time ray tracing using the DXR API, Mesh Shaders, Variable Rate Shading (both tier-1 and tier-2), and Sampler Feedback are also included with the latest Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs. All of these features are supported on Windows PCs with DirectX 12 installed – which means that only a few games currently take advantage of this new tech. But AMD is confident more game developers will adopt it in the near future as they see its benefits over Nvidia’s RTX technology at least for now.

There is also a claim that the Radeon RX 6900 XT is capable of running at the same level as Nvidia’s RTX 3090. AMD claims that this is true with both the Smart Access Memory and Radeon Rage-mode overclocking features enabled.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT also comes with an advanced cooling system to keep your GPU running cool even during high load situations like gaming or rendering videos while multitasking; you don’t have to worry about throttling because remember: bigger fan = better airflow. The card has three fans but can be configured to run with two fans in a quieter mode.

The performance of the Radeon RX 6900 XT is remarkable. When it comes to games, this graphics card will play anything from low-end titles like Fortnite or League of Legends on a 1080p resolution with high settings and frame rates – all the way up to demanding AAA titles such as Battlefield V at 1440p with the ultra-quality setting.

CPU – AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

We recommend pairing the Radeon RX 6900 XT with an AMD CPU so you can take advantage of the Smart Access Memory, which is the technology that is integrated with AMD Ryzen CPUs. This allows you to tap into the power of your graphics card memory, which enhances performance. We’ve chosen the Ryzen 9 5950X (AMD’s flagship CPU) for this build, which is a high-performance CPU that will provide you with the best of both worlds – plenty of power for your GPU and enough threads to handle any rendering tasks.

The Ryzen 9 5950X comes with a base clock speed of 3.4 GHz and can boost up to 4.9 GHz. It is an exceptional choice for gamers and content creators because it offers plenty of cores and threads per core, making it highly capable when it comes to multitasking in today’s demanding gaming requirements. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X offers up a whopping 16-cores and 32-threads that can reach speeds up to 30% faster than their predecessors with Turbo Boost Technology frequencies at max speed for an outstanding desktop experience like never before. With more turbo power on demand, you get increased instructions per clock (IPC) as well as an increase in thermal headroom, which means you can turn up the graphics quality on your games and not worry about dropping frames.

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is also great for content creators who need to render large workloads in real-time, meaning AMD Ryzen-based computers make it easy to get through even the most complex projects without slowing down. With a whopping 16 cores and 32 threads of processing power coming at speeds up to 30% faster than their predecessors, that extra power really comes in handy when exporting video or editing photos with filters – all while still being able to game!

The Ryzen 9 5950X doesn’t come with a stock cooler. For this processor, we’ve chosen the Corsair iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX Liquid CPU Cooler, which includes a powerful pump head and two 120mm CORSAIR ML RGB Magnetic Levitation PWM fans with eight RGB LEDs per fan to provide powerful airflow for extreme thermal performance. Though there is an option for the 360mm, this 240mm will work just fine.

There are many features that make this a great choice: it’s quiet while still providing superior cooling performance; offers customizable lighting effects through CORSAIR iCUE software; is compatible with a wide range of Intel and AMD sockets; has RGB control for the pump head, fans and fan LED channels; is easy to install.

I would recommend this CPU cooler to anyone looking for a great combination of performance, customization, and noise reduction. The EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G5 is an 850w power supply, which will be more than enough for this build as well as for future upgrades if you plan on doing any.

Case – Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB

Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB

If you are looking for a case with a combination of good aesthetics and packs of features, you can’t go wrong with the Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB. The tempered glass side and front panels allow you to show off your components, while the cable management system makes it easy for you to build a professional-looking computer with major cables neatly routed through one channel.

The iCUE 4000X RGB case is a good PC case. It’s got nice cable management and has plenty of space to store all your components so that they are securely inside the chassis. Other than being able to install up to an ATX motherboard, it also allows you to add a 360mm radiator at the front or 240mm option on top for liquid cooling if required. Case Fans – Corsair ML120 PRO 120mm

Corsair ML120 PRO 120mm

The case (Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB) we’ve chosen for this build comes with 3 stock fans, which are located at the front. However, the stock fans can run from as low as 230 RPM to 1350 RPM, which might be not enough for some PC builders. If you plan to change the stock fans with an aftermarket option, we highly recommend going with the Corsair ML120 PRO 120mm.

It’s a popular choice among PC builders. The Corsair ML120 PRO 120mm Magnetic Levitation Bearing (47.3 CFM) has an LED ring that can be controlled by your motherboard’s RGB software or iCUE. These are great because they have magnetic levitation bearings, significantly reducing bearing friction. As a result of this dramatic reduction in noise and wear-and-tear on your system components, these should last you longer than other stock fan designs without sacrificing performance!

The Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB comes with only 3 fans at the front, so we highly recommend adding additional fans on the rear for the exhaust. The Corsair ML120 PRO 120mm comes with triple-pack and single-pack options, so it’s easy for you to get only the exact number of fans needed for your build. Changing the stock fans is only optional, but if you want to get the best out of your build, it’s worthwhile investing with much more powerful case fans like the Corsair ML120 PRO 120mm.
